GERALDINE S. FALARDEAU (nee SANTOS), age 95. Beloved widow of Robert E. Falardeau, cherished mother of Star Warner, Vicky Kaczmarski, Bob (Kelly), Yvette Wypasek (Jason), and Paul (Sue); Grandmother of Betsy Bishop (Vic), Ryan Kaczmarski, James Zernitz, Adam Falardeau (Stephanie), Dale Sagen (Hallie), Brittany Sofranko (Brian), Amber Janes (Shane), Anthony Wypasek, Sydney Lewis (Ben), and Alexis Falardeau; Great-grandmother of sixteen.
Gerri was born in 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii, as part of a large Portuguese family. She lived life in paradise through the depression, witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, from the heights of Punchbowl and the collateral damage to the neighborhood and lived under martial law during WWII. After high school, she went to work for the military, where she met her loving “Frenchie” (Bob Sr.). They were married in San Diego in 1948 and returned to Hawaii to start their family. She moved with Bob to Cleveland, Ohio in 1956 and has lived in Parma since 1963. Gerri, as a devout Catholic, was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish from 1963 to the present. She was a founding member of the Cleveland Right to Life and upon her retirement as a volunteer received the Halo Effect Award for her years of service. Young women in need knew if it was Thursday, Gerri would be there to assist them throughout their pregnancy. The focus of her later years has been her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She helped to raise them, loved them, and directed their lives as long as she was able. She was a member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII Wives, serving as state commander. She was truly one of the greatest generation.
